Long Lines Reported for Voters Around Indiana
By the Associated Press
11/4/2008

Secretary of State Todd Rokita is advising Indiana voters to avoid peak hours at the polls.

Rokita spokesman Jim Gavin says his office is getting reports of long lines throughout the state. He says voters are urged to show up at the polls before 3 p.m., even though they will be able to cast ballots as long as they're in line before the 6 p.m. voting deadline.

Gavin also says the Hoosier Voter Helpline has received some phone calls with reports of possible violations such as people wearing inappropriate clothing or campaigning too close to the voting area. He says deputy secretaries of state have been sent to those precincts to investigate.
