Construction, education, health services, leisure and hospitality, were all sectors for job growth in Indiana in 2005.
Jerry Conover, an economist and director of the Indiana Business Research Center says manufacturing jobs grew in the first part of the year, but slowed in the second half of 2005.
Conover says all businesses in Indiana will fare better in the future if they're poised to roll with the punches - meaning they're ready to adapt and evolve with changes in the market.
He says manufacturing will always be a strong force for Indiana, but the jobs may shift from the more traditional automotive field to things like high tech devices.
One area that still needs improvement is wages. Conover says people in Indiana earn 91-cents to the dollar that other Americans earn.
