An Indiana gay-rights group is launching a $200,000 fund drive to beef up its future fundraising.
Indiana Equality is a coalition of 16 smaller gay-rights organizations with a budget last year of $70,000.
Spokesman Jerame Davis says quintupling that figure will let the organization hire a professional fundraiser so volunteers can concentrate on handing out fliers and other means of spreading the group’s message.
The founder of one Indiana Equality member organization, the Northeast Indiana AIDS Memorial, has already pledged $200,000 to the fund drive.
The group hopes to match that with individual donations.
