Senator Evan Bayh is calling on his colleagues to increase funding for Amtrak passenger rail services.

Bayh says Amtrak has experienced increase in passenger traffic as commuters look for ways to save on high fuel prices.

The senator says increased passenger rail traffic would not only provide a cost saving tool for Hoosier, but would also help the nation lessen its dependence on foreign oil.

Bayh says Indiana residents would further benefit through the jobs secured at Amtrak's repair facility in Morgan County.
