Phew!
Health officials searching for source of foul downtown odor

Something stinks in downtown Indy.

Workers arriving downtown from the statehouse to the City-County Building and points in between have been met by a sewage-like stench. And so far, no one can figure out what it is or where it's coming from.

The Department of Public Works and the Marion County Health Department are sniffing for clues. They've established it's not a gas leak -- that's not what it smells like anyway.

It's the second mystery-smell case of the day in Indianapolis. Earlier, there was an ammonia-like smell north of the airport. The source of that one hasn't been tracked down either.
