Mike Ahern

Mike Ahern
joined 93 WIBC in March of 2010, five years after he retired as news anchor for WISH-TV, a position he held for 37 years.

As host of the new Art and Entertainment segment called "All About Art," Mike covers all aspects of the performing and visual arts.

Mike says "If I've learned anything in my long broadcasting career, it's that news takes many forms, and for too long one of our most important sources of news, the arts community, has not been given its proper voice. We hope to change that with our daily broadcasts.

"I don't consider myself an art expert or critic. I'm simply someone who enjoys and admires the local arts and culture scene, and perhaps I can add the perspective of a longtime Indianapolis resident and observer of that scene."

"All About Art" can be heard daily on 93 WIBC at 7:55am and 5:55pm. The segments are sponsored by the Center for the Performing Arts.

What is a podcast?

A “podcast” describes a very simple concept: an audio file available on the Internet for you to listen to.

A podcast can also refer to a series of these audio files (similar to how a radio “show” can be a series of shows or just one show).

When using the word “podcast,” most people refer to the entire series and not just one audio file.

Do I need an iPod to listen to podcasts?

No.  The links to specific podcast "episodes" on this page can be clicked on to play the audio on-demand.

You also can choose to "subscribe" to specific podcasts and have future episodes downloaded directly to your computer using iTunes or other podcasting software.  There are many free podcasting programs available.

Why should I subscribe to a podcast?

Once you've subscribed to a podcast, your podcast software will periodically check our site, automatically, to see if a new episode is available.  If there is, the software will download the new episode to your computer.  This saves you time, and you're sure to get the latest episode as soon as it is available.
