What to Fuel Up On

As long as you’re staying within your overall range for the day, you don’t need to be obsessive about matching the following calorie and nutrient ratios perfectly. Just be careful not to fall into the very common trap of thinking that it’s OK to eat anything and everything in sight because you just worked out. Many people are very hungry after a workout, making it easy to eat more than you really need, or choose foods that won’t really help your body. Eating too much of the wrong thing can cause your body to store that food as fat instead of using your post-workout food to refuel and repair your muscles.

It is best to include a moderate amount of carbohydrates and protein in your post- exercise meal. By combining carbohydrates your insulin levels nearly double. By the insulin levels doubling, more glycogen is stored ...

Weigh-In Results 9-25-09

Posted 9/25/2009 4:15:00 PM
I didn't weigh in yesterday because I had a meeting to attend that I had forgotten about.  I probably had time to go afterwards but there was a chili cook-off at this meeting and I probably had a little too much chili and table snacks...haha.

But I went this morning and I was really happy with my results.  It had been about 5 weeks since my last weigh-in and in that time, I lost 7 pounds.  That brings my total weight loss to 79 pounds (Really?  I couldn't get one more to make it an even 80?).  My current weight is 263.4 pounds. Without doing any math whatsoever, I'm assuming that's around 1.5 pounds per week, which is what Weight Watchers prefers any losses to be.

I'm especially proud of that because it's all eating-related.  I hardly did any exercising during that time period.  I did some lawn ...

Check out Annessa Chumbley's Nutrition Blog for an awesome Lasagna Bake recipe.  I don't know the nutritional information for it but I doubt she'd put it on a "Nutrition" blog if it wasn't mildly healthy...haha.  Quick link below:

OK, I didn't get back in the gym yesterday but there was a good reason for it.  Actually, a couple.

1) I was having problems creating my own soundtrack for my c25k training program. I need to cut songs down to 1 minute lengths and 90 second lengths, and my editing program wasn't letting me do that for some.  So I haven't got that ready yet.  That I will work on tonight.

2).  Hello?  In case anyone didn't notice...the Colts were playing last night!  And since I usually work out at night, the Colts won that battle...just like they did on the field.

My buddies and I went to Moe & Johnny's in Broad Ripple and I was good as far as dinner was concerned.  I just got a grilled chicken sandwich and instead of chips on the side, I got cottage cheese.  Meanwhile one friend got the ...

Ingredients:
One 5-oz. raw boneless skinless lean chicken breast cutlet
1 wedge The Laughing Cow Light Original Swiss cheese, room temperature
