Couple Shot, Killed on NE Side

Indianapolis police are investigating a double murder early this morning near the Indiana State Fairgrounds. But police and court records indicate that these murders may be just the latest violent incident in the neighborhood.

IPD Lt. Mark Rice says an intruder or intruders forced their way in the back door of the home at 3524 N. Schofield and confronted the victims about 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

He says the homeowner, 33-year-old Michael Moss, was found in the front yard. Police found his girlfriend, 24-year-old April Adkisson, dead in the bedroom.

Police believe both were shot inside the home. Both had multiple gunshot wounds.

According to police records, Moss was shot in the legs back on May 17th. At that time, Moss indicated to police that the suspect was 19 year old Dejuan Edwards.

Six months prior to the May shooting, Edwards had been arrested on drug charges in front of the Moss home.

On May 22nd, the night before the Indianapolis 500, two men were shot near Moss's home. One of those victims, Michael Solomen, died of his wounds. According to police reports, Solomen had been visiting the Moss home prior to the shooting.

On June 1st, police arrested DeJuan Edwards for the murder of Michael Solomen. According to court records, Moss, who was a witness in that murder case, told authorities had threatened to kill him.

Edwards continues to be held without bond while he awaits trial for the Solomen murder.

A gun was found at the scene but ballistics will have to determine if it is the murder weapon.

One witness told police there was more than one attacker.
