Brownsburg Police Dept Helps With Hurricane Relief

Captain Ben Pyatt from the Brownsburg Police Department just returned from Houston with a few of fellow officers. They loaded up some trucks with supplies and drove down south to help with the hurricane relief. The officers watched footage from Houston of people in need, banded together and made a commitment to help. Other members of the community heard about their cause and wanted to get involved.

“People asked how they could help. We wanted to make an immediate impact. We needed food and water that can be consumed right on the spot. Within three days, we probably had $15,000 donated to us.”

The officers departed for Texas without really knowing what to expect. Upon arrival in Texas, they were shocked by what they saw.

“It was total devastation. You watch the news, but you’re not really prepared to see what a flood can do. It looked like a third world country. Trash was in the streets everywhere. People were taking things out of their house, just all the possessions completely destroyed. It looked like a bomb had gone off.”
