New York Mayor Bill de Blasio isn’t afraid to pat himself on the back for a job well done – even if the rest of his party would just assume he shut up about it IMMEDIATELY.

On Monday, de Blasio issued a Tweet touting his latest legislative accomplishment: free phone calls for prison inmates.

The bill takes effect in nine months, so prisoners will still have to rely on illegally smuggled mobile phones and prison carrier pigeons until then.

If you’re questioning why de Blasio would mistake this latest taxpayer-funded expenditure as an ‘achievement,’ count yourself as one of the majority. Some of de Blasio’s biggest supporters encouraged the Mayor to tone it down and focus on promoting legislative wins that benefit law-abiding citizens rather than convicted criminals.

WIBC hosts Hammer and Nigel discussed the de Blasio on Tuesday’s edition of “Is This Anything?”:

Nigel:

“What a great platform for the Democrats heading into midterms: free phone calls for inmates! I’ve never broken a law in my life and I still have to pay my phone bill.”

Hammer:

“Exactly! What about the rest of us who haven’t shanked someone? At least if you’re arrested for dealing drugs, in nine months, business is back on, baby! You can deal drugs on the public’s dime!”
