President Trump announced today that the United States would recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and  plans to relocate the US embassy there.

"I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel," Trump said from White House's Diplomatic Reception Room. "After more than two decades of waivers, we are no closer to a lasting peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians."

The announcement wasn't without controversy, as French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Theresa May disagreed that it was the right decision.

“Congress passes a law back in the mid-90s to move the embassy, but every other president since then has had to come out every 6 months and delay this, citing national security interests. Trump just came out and did it.”
