Counselor to President Donald Trump, Kellyanne Conway discussed the President's new tax plan with WIBC host Tony Katz Wednesday, in an interivew that briefly turned contentious when Tony questioned an earlier statement from Ms. Conway which seemed to imply that upper income Americans are "not paying their fair share."

Katz:

When you, Kellyanne Conway talk about 'Why are the rich getting a deal?', I say two things: one I think taxes should be lowered for everybody. And I follow up with, that sounds like the same talk we heard for eight years from President Obama. Why now is that the right talking point?

Conway:

I'm sorry, what did President Obama say that had anything to do with tax relief for anybody?

Katz:

Well, talking about how the rich need to pay their fair share and that they needed to stop getting the advantages. I don't think you mean it like that, but I wanted you to explain why that is now the qusai talking point.

Conway:

No, no, you're putting words in everybody's mouth and we'd appreciate it if you didn't.

Katz:

In no way am I attempting to do that ma'am, it's just a question.

Conway:

Excuse me, do you want me to answer the question?

Katz:

Please, ma'am.

Conway:

No, actually it was a statement disguised as a question. But look, I'm here on the behalf of the President, on the behalf of the American people. And using Obama's rhetoric to talk about meaningful tax relief when under his his eight years, people wound up paying more taxes. They literally paid more taxes, but then they paid invisible taxes through regulations. This President has reduced the regulatory framework in the first eight months like no President before him.

President Trump's plan to overhaul the tax code reportedly includes slashing the corporate tax rate to 20 percent, from 35 percent; lowering the top individual tax rate to 35 percent, from 39.6 percent; repealing the estate tax; doubling the size of standard deductions for married couples and individuals; and expanding child tax credits.

Ms. Conway also spoke with Tony at length about Republicans failure to repeal Obamacare.
