At least 17 people were left dead following a tragic high-school shooting in Parkland, Florida Wednesday. Suspect Nikolas Cruz, 19, was arrested and charged by authorities as he attempted to flee the scene.
Meanwhile, the FBI has now confirmed agents were warned about a YouTube comment that may have come from the alleged Florida high school shooter five months ago.
“In 2017, the FBI received information about a comment made on a YouTube channel. The comment simply said, ‘I’m going to be a professional school shooter.’ No other information was included with that comment which would indicate a time, location or the true identity of the person who made the comment. The FBI conducted database reviews, checks, but was unable to further identify the person who actually made the comment,” FBI Special Agent Rob Lasky said during a press conference.
A familiar debate erupted in the wake of the shooting over whether or not increased restrictions on an individual's right to own a firearm could either reduce or eliminate the occurrence future mass shootings.
Meanwhile, WIBC host Tony Katz spoke with GOP House Speaker Paul Ryan and Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb Thursday about what role a culture with an over emphasis on the value of personal feelings and self-indulgence play in tragedies such as the Parkland shooting.
