Iran Protests Show Tehran Has Lost the Advantage

The Obama administration got Iran wrong in 2009, according to WIBC host Tony Katz, and so did the international foreign-policy establishment, the New York Times, and nearly every major center-left media outlet in the United States and Europe.

Anti-government protests in Iran continued to flare Tuesday with clashes that left at least nine people dead, according to state media.

What began as frustration over Iran’s sluggish economy has broadened to include open defiance of Iran’s Islamic leadership itself.

According to foreign policy experts, Iran’s ruling establishment was clearly caught off guard by the speed and ferocity of the protests, which mark the largest outpouring of opposition to the state since the disputed 2009 presidential elections.
