TRAFFIC: Getting Around The Veterans Day Service and Parade

The service is on the north steps of the Indiana War Memorial beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by the Veterans Day parade at noon.

INDIANAPOLIS The Indianapolis Veterans Day Service and Parade are Saturday, Nov. 11.  The event begins with a musical prelude by the 38th Division Band of the Indiana National Guard starting at 10:30 a.m. on the north steps of the Indiana War Memorial.

The memorial service follows at 11 a.m. including a wreath laying, a flyover performed by the Indiana Air National Guard, tolling of the U.S.S. Indianapolis bell in remembrance of those who served, and taps performed by the Indiana National Guard.

The Veterans Day parade kicks off at noon featuring more than 80 different groups participating.  The route starts from Michigan and Pennsylvania Streets, then goes south along Pennsylvania to New York Street, then west to Michigan finishing at North Street.

The streets near the Indiana War Memorial will close beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday and reopen following the parade at approximately 3 p.m.
