In an examination of the arts, religion and humanity, Oaklandon Civic Theatre will present The Beams Are Creaking as the one of the most thought-provoking productions of the fall 2009 season. Based on the life, imprisonment and final days of ordained minister Dietrich Bonhoeffer and his moral struggles against Nazi-controlled Germany, the story provides insight into the dilemmas that come with civil disobedience and the cost of freedom. Audiences will be uplifted and inspired by Bonhoeffer's resolve to stand against the atrocities that were commonly overlooked by both the religious community and society as a whole.
