The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and the University of Indianapolis Music Department collaborate to present Beethoven’s inspiring masterpiece, the Ninth Symphony. This icon of Western music will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall on Nov. 9. Famous for its inclusion of Friedrich Schiller’s “Ode to Joy,” the piece has been described as “one of the highest achievements of man, ranking alongside Shakespeare’s Hamlet and King Lear.” The combined choirs at the University of Indianapolis, prepared by choral director Paul Krasnovsky, along with UIndy faculty soloists and guest Thomas Scurich will join Maestro Kirk Trevor and the ICO to present this timeless work to Indiana audiences.
