The Olympic Games are noble. Dignified.
Russian "President" Vladimir Putin and his dedicated followers at the I-O-C have repeatedly promised that Sochi is ready and willing to kickoff the 22nd Winter Olympics Friday night. There are the small issues of unfinished venues, a pillow shortage, toilets that can't flush toilet paper, open manhole covers, the genocide of stray dogs, drinking water that looks like caramel, and hotels without roofs, but all this is trivial when compared to terrorist threats from multiple directions and Putin's continued oppression of a minority population. Now that a couple of reporters' hotel door knobs have fallen off and caused a few lockouts around the city, you can guess that coverage on everything big and small will get a bit more attention. Let's hope Sochi is remembered for the competition.
