AHHHHH....The smell of fresh mulch is in the air in the West Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, as the Indiana Flower & Patio Show takes the stage for the 52nd time!  I guarantee that you'll come away with gobs of ideas for your own backyard...And you'll also leave feeling like Spring can't get here quick enough!

 

This year, in partner ship with Indy Reads, each of the landscape designers had to create a garden around the them, "A Novel Idea", which is pretty cool.  I know you'll recognize wonderful stories like, "The Hobbit", "Under The Tuscan Sun", "The Wedding" , but in particular...when I saw in the program that there was a garden called "Little House On The Prairie", well...I nearly knocked over every single man, woman and child to jump over bridges and crawl over streams to find it!  My favorite stories when I was younger by Laura Ingalls Wilder and I had to see it first.  I wasn't disappointed! 

 

That stream I was talking about is a 150 foot stream...right there in the middle of it all and it's beautiful.  And if you can get everyone around you to be quiet...it sounds nice too.  Lots of beautiful water features this year!

 

As I said, this year the Indiana Flower & Patio Show partnered with Indy Reads, so you'll see donation bins located in the entry lobbies.  If you can, I hope you'll think about donating a copy of the classics or any appropriate titles that the Indy Read Program can use, that would be great! They can also use K thru 6 workbooks.   Indy Reads has changed the lives of hundreds of Hoosier adults that weren't able to read, and they have more work that needs to be done so whatever you can do to help...thank you.
