Republicans are boycotting a hearing for a Hoosier up for a federal judge seat.
David Hamilton is President Barack Obama's first judicial nominee. He is after a seat on the Midwestern Appeals Court.
However, all but a few Republicans skipped a hearing this week, reportedly claiming there was not enough time to prepare for the hearing.
Indiana Republican Senator Richard Lugar attended the hearing and praised Hamilton's qualifications.
The Bloomington-born nominee is currently a U-S District Judge.
He has issued a number of controversial rulings over the past 15 years.
Hamilton struck down the use of sectarian prayers at the statehouse and ruled against state law that required abortion patients to first get counseling.
Both decisions were reversed.
The committee considering Hamilton's nomination is not expected to vote for several weeks.
