Ben Davis Tackles Home Construction
Nearly 20 football players, coaches help Habitat for Humanity during spring break

It's spring break for many area school systems, and some Indianapolis football players have been spending it building a house.

Ben Davis High School players spent a couple of days assembling panels for a Habitat for Humanity home on Miller Street on the south side, then turned out in 40-degree weather to put them up.

Coach Tom Meeker and two of his assistants pitched in with about 15 players. Meeker says it's the second year the Giants have lent a hand to Habitat over spring break, but the first time they've worked at the build site itself.

Habitat says the home should be finished in about a month. It's one of three Habitat homes being built in the neighborhood this spring.
