Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana is the first theme park in the nation certified by the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).
Statewide, the safety program is administered by the Indiana Department of Labor which presented the "InSHARP" award Thursday morning.
Park president Will Koch says their safety committee and the full-time staff of 80 worked hard to earn the certification.
Holiday World's staff made adjustments in their safety training after a series of meetings and visits from the Department of Labor.
Koch says there is nothing more important than the safety of their guests and employees.
Holiday World opens for the season on Saturday, May 2.
