The Southside Indianapolis Miracle Mile Parade returns for its third year on Labor Day weekend, Saturday, September 5.

This year's theme is "Honoring Hoosier Heroes."

The grand marshal of the parade will be the Adjutant General of Indiana, Major General Martin Umbarger. Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard will be an honored guest.

Parade chairman Jeff Cardwell, who is also a City-County Councilor representing the south side, says this year's parade will also honor Hoosier Hero citizens along with members of the military and those in public safety.

Nominations for the honor are being accepted online at MiracleMileParade.com.

The Miracle Mile Parade, an annual event on the south side of Indianapolis until 1957, was revived 50 years later in 2007.
