This year's Indiana State Fair signature food is deep-fried pizza.
Known on the east coast as a pizza fritta, it consists of hand-tossed dough that's deep fried and slathered with tomato sauce and parmesan cheese.
The deep-fried pizza entry marks the third year in a row Urick Concessions has won the annual fried fair food competition. Last year's winner was their deep fried bananas foster cheesecake on a stick.
Monica Urick says they stick with doing concessions at Indianapolis-area events so they're never far from their Carmel restaurant, Mudbugs Cajun Cafe.
The Indiana State Fair begins August 7 and runs through August 23.
