Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi has filed rape charges against Julius Thomas in the rape last week of a woman who is four months pregnant.

Thomas is charged with rape, criminal deviate conduct, attempted robbery and criminal confinement, all felonies.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Thomas allegedly knocked on the woman's door at 1706 North Layman Avenue on July 24 and asked to use the telephone. The woman told police that once inside, the man tried to rob her and when she said she had no money, he raped her.

A tip led police to Thomas and the victim identified him as her attacker when she was shown a picture.

"There are no words or actions that can convey the amount of suffering the victim endured," said Brizzi. "The only thing we can do now is to hold Mr. Thomas accountable for his actions."
