Witnesses Expected to Testify at Reese Trial
By Stan Lehr and Joe Ulery
11/4/2009
A few citizens who witnessed the July 2008 shooting of IMPD Officer Jason Fishburn are expected to take the witness stand Wednesday.
Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi spoke to reporters before heading into the Porter County Courthouse--where the trial has been moved because of pre-trial publicity.
After the citizens finish on the stand, the two officers following Officer Fishburn the day he was shot will testify. Brizzi doesn't expect anything "too revelational" to come out during from those witnesses.
Thursday, prosecutors will transition their focus from the pursuit of suspect Brian Reese to the shooting of the police officer.
The trial is expected to wrap up sometime next week, with a possible verdict coming back as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday.
Brizzi would not comment when he was questioned about a chance to question the defendant.
