Fellow IMPD Officer Testifies in Brian Reese Trial | Indy's News Center - 93.1 WIBC Indianapolis - Live. Local. First.

The officer who was working with IMPD officer Jason Fishburn the day he was shot told his story in court Wednesday.

Patrolman Jerry Piland told the court he and Jason Fishburn were called to the Linwood Square Apartments July 10, 2008. They handled the domestic disturbance call there routinely, but then received another call from detectives for marked units to stop a white van.

Piland and Fishburn spotted the van, which dropped off a man who bumped into Piland’s car as he ran from the scene.

The apprehension was made; Piland helped handcuff the man – the defendant, Brian Reese.

But Fishburn was not responding to radio calls. He was found where Piland had last seen him, lying on his back with a bullet wound to his head.

Piland helped cut off Fishburn’s uniform to help prepare him for transport to the hospital.
