Red Cross Launches 'Holiday Mail for Heroes'

Hoosiers are invited to send a "touch of home" to service members and their families to show their appreciation.

The 'Holiday Mail for Heroes' campaign is currently underway. You can participate by sending holiday cards with personal messages. The cards will be delivered to military bases and hospitals, veteran’s hospitals and other locations in the U.S. and abroad during the holidays.

The Red Cross is using volunteers at over 300 participating chapters nationwide to sort and deliver the greetings. Organizers say one card could make all the difference to someone serving overseas over the holidays.

The program received more than 1.4 million cards last year. The campaign runs through Monday, December 7.
