IMPD is investigating the rape of a 15-year-old girl that occurred Friday morning on the east side.
Police say the victim was walking in the 1200 block of North Tuxedo Street at around 6:35 a.m. on her way to the school bus stop when she was approached from behind by an unknown black male.
Investigators say the suspect pushed an object against her back and said he was armed. He then forced her into an alley where she was sexually assaulted. The suspect then fled.
The victim was treated at Riley Hospital and released.
The suspect is described as being 10-to-30 years of age, 5'-10" tall with a thin build. He was wering a black hooded sweatshirt and had the lower part of his face concealed by a white mask.
He is considered to be armed.
At least one other person observed the suspect in the neighborhood prior to the incident.
