A group of child advocates held a rally Friday outside the Marion County office of the State Department of Child Services.
Event organizer Jennifer Cobb of the advocacy group And Justice For All says the rally was held to bring attention to 18 children who died in the last few years while their cases were being handled by DCS.
Cobb feels the state could do more to prevent these abuse deaths. She wants an independent watchdog group to oversee DCS' operations.
The group read the names of the 18 children and rang a bell in memory.
