A St. Vincent patient received a lifesaving shock from an innovative vest.
Listen:
A LifeVest is a wearable cardio defibrillator that restores heart rhythm after a patient has a heart attack.
60-year-old William Sears was at risk of a sudden cardiac arrest but unable to have a defibrillator implanted.
Dr. Richard Fogel, an electrophysiologist at St. Vincent Heart Center, says the LifeVest saved Sears' life.
The LifeVest is non-invasive devise which is worn under clothing. The device has a 98 percent success rate.
Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in the U.S.
