The Johnson County Prosecutor's Office has filed additional charges against former Salvation Army volunteer youth counselor Jonathan Hartman, who is awaiting trial on child molestation charges.

The 30- year old Hartman is now accused of trying to hire someone to kill the victims in the sexual misconduct cases.

He's now charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder, a Class A Felony.

Johnson County Prosecutor Brad Cooper says an investigation was launched after a deputy prosecutor received a letter about a month ago from another inmate indicating that Hartman wanted to arrange for a friend to release a gun to the co- conspirator inmate upon his release.

Cooper says the inmate contacted authorities because he wanted nothing to do with it.

Hartman, who was charged in the molestation cases in April, is being held without bond in the Johnson County Jail.
