Carmel Bullying Investigation Ongoing
An investigation into a case of extreme bullying aboard a bus full of Carmel High School boys basketball players is under investigation -- and that's all officials are saying.
The investigation revolves around an incident aboard a bus on January 22. It allegedly involved three senior and two freshman.
Head Coach Mark Galloway says the seniors were suspended, but there have been numerous reports they were expelled.
Carmel-Clay Superintendent Dr. Jeff Swensson, Carmel High School Principal John Williams and Carmel Police Chief Mike Fogarty held a news conference Wednesday at Carmel High School and refused to answer any questions about the investigation or the students involved.
However, Principal Williams released a statement last week saying that the students involved were interviewed, along with coaches and immediate discipline was administered.
Chief Fogarty did say possible charges could include battery, criminal confinement and criminal deviate conduct, with the latter charge indicating sexual abuse. He did not say when the investigation would be completed.
