Study: Gender Gap Exists in Reading Achievement
By Jill Sheridan
3/17/2010

A new education study finds a serious gender gap when it comes to reading and math.

The Center on Education Policy conducted the 2008 study which shows dramatic differences in achievement between boys and girls in the fourth grade, eighth grade and high school level.

No state finds that boys are doing better than girls in reading and that includes Indiana. Things were a bit more even when it comes to math.

Back in the 1960s schools worked to find ways to improve math test scores for girls and now they need to find solutions for boys to do better in reading.
