Alligator Found, Caught on Road in Franklin
A 2-foot alligator is in custody in Indiana after a deputy spotted it on a rural road.
The Daily Journal of Franklin says the Johnson County sheriff's deputy caught the alligator in Union Township early Wednesday. It's about 20 miles south of Indianapolis.
The deputy saw its scales shimmering in his headlights and trapped it in an empty trash can until help arrived.
The county animal control office says it doesn't know where the alligator came from or how it ended up in the area.
Agency Director Michael Delp plans to turn the alligator over to an exotic animal rescue group if the owner doesn't step forward.
