Fumes Force Evacuation of Southwestside Business

Diesel fumes, reportedly, forced an evacuation of a business called Aspen Systems in the 5100 block of Decatur Boulevard.

About 260 people were ushered outside, at least 23 transported to a hospital -- but all are said to have been conscious and alert.

Investigators from the Decatur Township Fire Department were checking inside the building before allowing the evacuees to return.

"We think there was semi truck in an in-building," says Fire Chief Dale Henson. "When they started up, those fumes went through the system somehow and possibly could have been the problem."

The site is the former home of the Panther Racing Team.
