A Kentucky man has died from injuries he suffered when his experimental aircraft crashed near a rural airport in southern Indiana.

The Jefferson County coroner's office says 69-year-old Charles Lunceford of Lewisport, Ky., died Wednesday at University Hospital in Louisville. Deputy Coroner Jack Arnold says Lunceford suffered second- and third- degree burns over 85 percent of his body from the crash Tuesday about a half mile from the Perry County Municipal Airport near Tell City, Ind.

Witnesses told police that Lunceford's Sparrow Hawk II gyro-copter appeared to be coming in for a landing at the airport when it lost power, crashed and caught fire. The crash site was about 40 miles east of Evansville.
