After a collision late this morning between an IMPD patrol car and two motorcycles, one man is dead and two other people are in critical condition.

No injuries to Officer David Bisard or his dog.

Bisard had his red lights and siren in operation as he approached the intersection with Brendan Way on East 56th Street.

Other vehicles moved to the shoulder, but three bikes remained in the left lane.

Witnesses say the officer braked and swerved--but was unable to avoid the collision with two of the bikes.

The names of the dead and injured have not been released and the crash remains under investigation.
