The City-County Council voted down a proposal to immediately form an investigative committee to look into the handling of the David Bisard case.
Democratic Councilman Brian Mahern tried to suspend the rules and have the formation of the committee considered during Monday night's meeting, but it failed by a vote of 16-13.
Council President Republican Ryan Vaughn stated he felt inclined to support some version of forming the committee, but felt forming it now could jeopardize the criminal case against Bisard and the civil suit against the city.
The proposal to form the six-person committee will likely by discussed in the September 28 meeting of the council's rules committee.
