FOP President Reacts to Straub Decision

The mayor's pick to run the city's public safety department will likely hang onto his job, but not everyone is happy about it.

Fraternal Order of Police President Bill Owensby says he wasn't surprised by the public safety committee's decision to keep Dr. Frank Straub.  But, Owensby says he was happy to have the opportunity to voice his concerns in a public forum.

Owensby says while Straub touts the positives coming out of the Metro Police department, he isn't doing the same to the rank-and-file.

Owensby says he wants to meet with Straub and iron some things out.

Straub has said he also wants to better his relationship with FOP leadership.

The City-County Council Public Safety Committee voted 5-2 to keep Straub, although the vote was merely symbolic in nature as Straub is a mayoral appointment.
