Metro Police are investigating the death of a man on the city's near east side Wednesday afternoon.

IMPD Sgt. Paul Thompson says police received a 911 call around 2:00 that a man was down inside a yellow house near a gas station at Brookside Avenue and Rural Street.

Police located the house in the 2600 block of Brookside Avenue and found 28 year-old Bobby Ford dead inside the home. Ford had suffered an apparent gunshot wound.

The person that made the 911 call was not at the scene when police arrived. Police aren't releasing anymore details on the case and are awaiting the results of an autopsy that is scheduled to be performed on Thursday.
