City Plans Record Amount of Summer Road Construction

4/14/2011

If you drive anywhere in Marion County, start practicing patience.

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard says the summer road construction season will be the biggest in Marion County history.  That means there will be road closings and detours all over.

The mayor kicked off RebuildIndy Thursday.  The city is spending $87 million to resurface 383 lane miles, repair 16 bridges, and make other improvements.

The city says money for the projects was appropriated by City-County Council last year.

Some of the projects include rehabbing the 56th Street bridge over Eagle Creek Reservoir and resurfacing roads like West 10th Street and High School Road.
