The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is involved with the search for Lauren Spierer.

Appearing on Indy's Morning News on 93 WIBC Thursday, CEO Ernie Allen says they assist law enforcement with search patterns and how to proceed with an investigation like this one.

Listen to the interview:

Allen says they're using "Team Adam," a group of retired law enforcement experts, to aid Bloomington Police in how to search and where to look.

According to Allen, the key is to make sure all searchers are on the same page about what to look for when out and about.

"What we don't want is well-meaning people tromping across fields and areas because sometimes you can destroy evidence, not just find it," says Allen.

Allen says they recommend multiple sweeps of different areas.
