The mother of a 4-year-old seriously injured in the State Fair stage collapse says she's grateful for all the help her family received Saturday night.

Listen:

Laura Magdziarz of Morocco, Indiana says she, her three daughters and her mother, were right in front of the stage, on the right side, for a show they had all been anticipating.

Madgziarz says just before the scheduled start of the show she noticed the weather worsening, so she grabbed her 4-year-old daughter Maggie, and told the rest of her family to run. She then saw the stage sway and the next thing she remembered was being on the ground in pitch black.

Madgziarz says she found Maggie, who was bleeding profusely from an arm and leg, and was approached by a woman who said she was a doctor. She knew Maggie was seriously injured and handed Maggie to the woman and then was tended to by a paramedic for her broken leg as people rushed to lift the light rigging from several people.

Maggie is being treated for her injuries, and it's not known if she will have use of her arm. Madgziarz's mother is still being treated for a concussion and she herself is being treated for serious leg injuries.

She says without a string of people who helped Maggie, she may have lost her daughter. Magdziarz said she didn't know if it was an act of God, but "I got help from somewhere, I'm not going to question where it came from, I'm just very thankful."
