The death of Dan Wheldon is likely to spark a safety review of the horrific crash that killed him.
Listen:
IUPUI Department of Motorsports chairman Pete Hylton warns against second-guessing Wheldon or any of the other drivers who drove into, or out of, the wreck. At more than 200 miles an hour, in a tightly packed field, he says drivers would have had just milliseconds to react.
The race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was the first Indycar race there since the track was reconfigured five years ago. Hylton says Indycar officials would have reviewed the track before adding it to the series.
Hylton predicts a comprehensive review of all aspects of the crash.
