Police Investigating Theft of Semi Containing Thousands of BlackBerry Tablets

Chesterfield Police are investigating the theft of a semi tractor-trailer containing thousands of electronic tablets.

Chesterfield Police Officer Mike Milbourn says the semi pulled into the Pilot truck stop off I-69 near the 34 mile marker in Madison County around 3:30 Thursday. Officer Milbourn says the driver went inside to get something to eat and when he came out, his truck and trailer were missing.

The trailer contained 5,200 BlackBerry PlayBooks. The devices are worth between $1.7 million and $5 million depending on which type of PlayBooks were inside the trailer.

Police are looking at surveillance video from the truck stop and the FBI Interstate Theft Task Force is assisting with the investigation.
