Salvation Army Disaster Services Director Jerry Larsen says more than $300,000 has been raised across the state for tornado victims.

Larsen says a lot of the money has come through media efforts. He says the money goes directly to victims and he personally gave three checks totaling $90,000 to folks in New Albany and another $50,000 is on the way to victims in Ripley County.

Larsen say the first round of assistance will help people with basic needs like clothing and personal items. He says they're trying to get the aid to people as quickly as possible.
