Indiana Homeland Security's Arvin Copeland and Incident Commander Michial Compton say the massive cleanup effort continues in Southern Indiana.
They say more than a thousand truckloads of debris has been taken to landfills as the FEMA relief effort prepares to move into the tornado-torn area. Officials say residents should be wary of people going door-to-door collecting donations for victims because that is not how FEMA or any reputable organization will be soliciting donations.
Copeland says thousands of volunteers have helped, but they need people to sign up before showing up. They say volunteers should call Metro United Way at 2-1-1. Victims seeking aid can contact FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA. They also have a One Stop Shop located on the Ivy Tech campus in Sellersburg.
