A vigil was held Monday night in honor of those killed in that morning's school bus crash that killed two and injured several more.
Over 100 people gathered Monday night to mourn the loss of five-year-old Donasty Smith, along with the driver of the bus, 60-year-old Thomas Spencer the second. Donasty Smith's mother Danyelle told RTV6 after the vigil she was in shock after hearing the news.
"It was 15 minutes after she got on the bus that they got into a crash and when I went to the doctor, my oldest was alive but Donasty was gone," Smith says.
Smith described her daughter as a fun-loving, caring little girl saying, "she was goofy and silly and she always tried to make you laugh." She thanked church members, family and friends for their continuing support.
Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the crash.
