Zionsville Community Schools Layoff 15 Teachers
Middle School Band, Art, Foreign Language Cut
The Zionsville School Board laid-off 17 fulltime employees Monday, including at least 15 teachers.
The school district says it is broke.
School leaders tried to pass a special tax in 2010, but voters said no.
The district is asking voters for money in next month's election, but is not waiting to make cuts.
In addition to cutting jobs, cuts were made to foreign languages, band and art in middle school.
If the referendum passes May 8, the cuts could be reversed.
